As a nation we are going through a difficult time and there are many challenges. The second wave of lockdown leaves many finding themselves feeling weary, despondent, and cut off from others. Yet despite this we are a people of hope, and as a church want to look at our lives and the world around us and realise that there are still many reasons to be thankful.
So during this week in November we want to create special occasions of Thanksgiving (echoing the Thanksgiving season held each year in America). Of course we can’t safely physically gather, but using online tools we can connect one family to another, look at life together, and express reasons to be thankful.
This week different individuals and families will be inviting others online to make an occasion of it – introducing fun, laughter, as well as serious reflection on all the good things we see God giving or enabling for us.
On Friday the wider church will come together using Zoom for a larger collective thanksgiving – intentionally asking each to contribute one thing to be thankful for.
We do this because we are Countess Free Church – a people of hope, a people who despite the challenges see God at work, and a people who are thankful for it. We are always ready to come alongside anyone who would like help to discover the hope and faith that we have – just get in contact!
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace – and be thankful!”
Colossians 3:15
